Dr. Volkan Cetin is an innovative medical researcher who joined Fiore Healthcare Advisors in November 2014 as Head of Clinical Research and Safety. In this role he leads our clinical research activities, including medical monitoring and clinical development consulting.
A native of Turkey, after graduating from Trakya Medical School, he completed his residency training in Forensic Medicine at Uludag Medical School before moving to the United States where he practiced forensic pathology and went on to do his graduate training in Public Health & Epidemiology. At the University of Massachusetts Medical School, he collaborated with several prominent researchers in oncology and was appointed to the faculty of the Department of Medicine. He then went on to direct a pancreatic cancer research program in Worcester, Massachusetts where he developed several novel processes to increase efficiency in research operations at research sites.
Most recently, he was an Assistant Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine where his academic work focused on clinical protocol design, clinical operations, Data and Safety Monitoring. He has worked extensively with regulatory authorities such as FDA as well as with Institutional Review Boards to implement novel strategies in data collection and compliance. He has authored several study protocols, is expert in IND related processes, and has been a reviewer for prestigious medical journals .
