Maria Theresa Basco, MD, MPH is a board-certified physician and healthcare entrepreneur. Prior to joining FHA, Dr. Basco spent over 10 years in clinical practice, academia, and public health.
A passionate leader and innovative thinker, Dr. Basco leverages her skills to provide expertise in the strategic and operational aspects of clinical research and product development across multiple therapeutic areas, including rare disease and oncology. At FHA, she has partnered with emerging pharmaceutical companies in the successful execution of Phase 1 and 2 trials, including First-in-Human. Dr. Basco has also served on safety committees and has led cross-functional safety teams, providing safety oversight and building / enhancing PV processes for drugs and devices in all stages of clinical development and post-market approval in the US and abroad.
Dr. Basco trained in General Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) – Morristown Medical Center after earning her MD from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines. She went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Yale University and residency training at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMass) where she also earned her MPH with honors. Dr. Basco is certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine and is an Assistant Professor in the UMass Department of Preventive Medicine.
